(source: Modaportale.com, March 2013).  In the fashion field, Lombardy is the first area in Europa  for the number of firms in the fashion and manufacture sector, before the Ile de France (area around Paris).

Milan’s Fashion week:

Along the year there are 4 fashion weeks: autumn/winter for men in January in Milan, at the end of February for women ; and spring/summer  in june for men, in september for women. Although these days lots of new cities start doing their own fashion week (such as Berlin, Montréal, Stockholm…); the “original” fashion week moves to the fourth main fashion cities around the world: it starts in New-York then go to London, Milan and Paris. So it lasts a month and the “fashionistas” move to these cities to attend the different events.

During this weeks; the most important luxury brands organize the fashion shows which takes place in the showroom of the brand or in a prestigious location rented for the event. You can get in only if you have a personnal invitation but the place and the time are public. If you are curious; I advise you to go at the entrance of one of them to admire how people are dressed. You might take some pictures of the look you particulary like; they are called streetstyle pictures.

The showrooms of all the most important brands also open their doors to the international buyers and journalists during these days. So at this period; Milan is full of international important people who work in fashion. Of course; these are private and only business events.

There are a few (very little) public events as for example some activities in piazza castello and often a small exhibition at Cadorna metro station.

You will find all the informations on the website of the organism that covers the event: La Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (http://www.cameramoda.it/it/) or on this website : www.modemonline.com

N.B: the pictures is the Dolce e Gabbana’s final of the last women’s FW fashion week.

ClarisseP
Clarisse- I’m a 23 year-old Parisian who studies in a Business School in France. After a semester in Milan as an exchange student, I decided to work there because I loved living there. I now know Milan very well, as I love just wandering in the streets and discovering new things. It is a very dynamic city and there are a lot of places which deserved to be seen. That’s why I wanted to share my experience with you. Also because I love traveling and when I’m in a city abroad I always wonder where would go the locals. So I'll try and advise you the bests spots to be ! What else you might want to know about me? Well, I love fashion and I’m quite gourmet so I’ll recommend you fine restaurants and bars to do the famous aperitivo and to eat the Italian specialties. As I like doing lots of different activities, I try and be informed about what's new so I'll do my best to keep you updated. 😉 Hope you'll find everything you need and have fun!
