How to go back home by night?  How is the Public transportation at Night in Milan?

Well of course it depends where you live and where you go but here are some general information.

What about coming back by feet? Well, Milan is not a very dangerous city. A part some areas that I would not recommend at night (Centrale/ Corvetto…), especially if you are a girl walking alone; it is quite safe to walk in the streets at night. If you stay in the center, there is no problem at all!

About Public Night Transportation.

During the week:

– The metro ends at midnight. Attention if you have to change line! And also pay attention that some entrances will be closed earlier (for example at Centrale) so do not arrive just at 23.50, you might miss it!

– Most of the tram (but you better check your line) end at 1 or 2 o’clock.  To know the hours, look on the atm website: www.atm.it.

-Two lines of bus run all night long: the 90 and the 91 which go around the “circolare”.  If you live at the West part, you will take the “circolare sinistra” which is the 90 and goes from Lotto to Lodi at the south, going by Romolo/Ripa di Porta Ticinese (close from Le Colonne)…. Otherwise, you’ll take the 91 which goes from Lodi to Lotto, going by Lambrate/Loreto/Centrale…

Have a look here to see all the details.

During the week-end there are some buses that do the same way than the metro all night long. (Substitution Metro)

15 lines of bus and tram work all night long: the most useful ones are the 24, 27, 42, 50, 54, 57, 72 and the 94. You have also a special night service to add.

You can find all the information and the public night transportation ‘s map here:

If you catch a taxi; there will already be 6 euros to pay which is the night service fee; to which you need to add the price of your road.

If you call one (dial: 024040); you’ll have to pay this fee+ the road the taxi made to come to you.

I hope this was useful!

ClarisseP
Clarisse- I’m a 23 year-old Parisian who studies in a Business School in France. After a semester in Milan as an exchange student, I decided to work there because I loved living there. I now know Milan very well, as I love just wandering in the streets and discovering new things. It is a very dynamic city and there are a lot of places which deserved to be seen. That’s why I wanted to share my experience with you. Also because I love traveling and when I’m in a city abroad I always wonder where would go the locals. So I'll try and advise you the bests spots to be ! What else you might want to know about me? Well, I love fashion and I’m quite gourmet so I’ll recommend you fine restaurants and bars to do the famous aperitivo and to eat the Italian specialties. As I like doing lots of different activities, I try and be informed about what's new so I'll do my best to keep you updated. 😉 Hope you'll find everything you need and have fun!
