If you are walking near the “Duomo” (the Cathedral) at lunch time, you HAVE to taste a « panzerotto ». All Italian people go to this historical bakery to eat one of the most delicious panzerotto of Milan. It is a speciality from the South of Italy – la Puglia: a kind of bread fulled traditionally with mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. The bakery offers lots of different combinations but it is a pity not to try the original one: ask for a” panzerotto con fromaggio e pomodoro”. If you are hungry, take two of them!
But I must warn you: you will have to be patient: there is often a huge queue in front of the bakery ; that’s a sign it is worth it! Young Italians now go there for their break at school or after the cinema.
Situated in a little street parallel from the Corso di Vittorio Emmanuele II, where you will go to do your shopping, just behind the beautiful Duome; it is easy to stop by. If you have troubles finding it, just ask the cinema l’Odeon, it is in the same street!
